She stressed that the traditional method of keeping vigil (staying awake throughout the night) is crucial to receiving Lord Shiva's blessings.
"The entire night is spent singing bhajans and retelling the stories of Shiva and Parvati̢۪s wedding. It̢۪s an act of dedication and faith that cleanses the soul," she added.

"The spiritual significance of this night is immense. It̢۪s the night when Shiva performed the Tandava, the dance of creation and destruction," Akshita stated. "For me, Mahashivratri is about tuning out the noise and tuning into the inner silence. I dedicate several hours to deep meditation."
Akshita believes that the fasting observed on this day is not just physical, but mental, designed to cleanse negative thoughts and energy.
"The physical fast is a tool. The real purpose is to control the mind and dedicate that controlled energy toward positive spiritual growth," she elaborated.

- *Thandai* (a special cold beverage often laced with nuts and spices, consumed after the fast breaks).
